In a world of fast fashion and mass production, sewing clothes yourself is not only a creative hobby but also a conscious ecological choice. ‘I MADE MY CLOTHES’ - Kraina's sewing courses combine practical sewing lessons with the idea of upcycling - we use second-hand materials, giving them new life in the form of beautiful and useful objects.
In April 2025 we invite you
to our sewing courses for beginners:
Meeting place: The courses take place at the Kraina Foundation headquarters in Warsaw, Mokotów, 67 Puławska St., premises 43. We provide a friendly space to learn and work with professional equipment and social facilities.
Enrolment: To sign up for the course, please fill in the application form. A place on the course is guaranteed by making a pre-payment to the Kraina Foundation account.
Course leaders: Yana Bezdushna and Hanna Makhnivska - designers and seamstresses with extensive experience in the fashion industry, participants of the prestigious Sustainable Fashion Design programme for designers.

PROFESSIONAL SEWING COURSE FOR BEGINNERS 48H
Who is this course for?
For beginners who want to learn sewing from scratch
For people who dream of creating their own wardrobe
For DIY and handicraft enthusiasts
For anyone who wants to develop a creative hobby
For those who value individual style and quality workmanship
Course Concept and Objectives: This sewing course has been designed for adults who want to learn sewing and gain practical skills needed to create various textile projects. Classes are held in an intimate group of maximum 6 people, which with two instructors ensures individual attention and the ability to focus carefully on each participant's progress. Over 48 hours, participants will familiarize themselves with professional sewing machines, learn various sewing techniques, work with different types of materials, and create five projects:
Home decoration: pillow case, curtains
Clothing: skirt, shirt, and a knit item (e.g., sweatshirt or t-shirt)
The course will be flexible – instructors will ensure the level and pace of work are adapted to participants' actual skills. The course is conducted in Polish, English, and Ukrainian. Maximum group size is 6 people.
What will we learn?
Basic machine sewing
Operating a sewing machine (including settings, types of stitches)
Fabric cutting techniques according to patterns
Basic hand sewing
Finishing techniques
Various types of seams (straight, French, overlock)
Hemming edges, inserting zippers and buttons
Methods of hemming and finishing details
Creating simple home decoration projects
Sewing a simple pillow case with a zipper or fold
Making curtains with appropriate hemming and optional gathering tape insertion
Clothing step by step
Creating a skirt (learning to work with simple patterns)
Shirt with key details (collar, placket, cuffs)
Sewing a sweatshirt or t-shirt from knit fabric – introduction to working with elastic materials and their proper finishing
Working on dressmaking details
During each project, participants will focus on learning and perfecting key elements such as:
Inserting zippers
Setting in sleeves
Finishing necklines
Working with elastic materials
Final Results
After completing the course, participants will:
Be able to operate a sewing machine and complete basic projects
Master various sewing and finishing techniques
Complete five finished projects (2 decorative items and 3 pieces of clothing)
Gain confidence in working with patterns and various types of fabrics, enabling them to undertake future projects independently
Price:
The course price includes all learning materials including fabrics and knits, threads, machine needles, and all tools and consumables, and amounts to 3500 PLN
Schedule:
Start date: March 2025. The course lasts 4 weeks
Class days and times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

JEANS COAT 12 h
In this course you will create: a straight cut denim jacket with a collar and pockets. You will sew it from pieces of fabric taken from denim trousers. If you have unused jeans in your wardrobe, you can also bring them and use them.
Materials: You will work with second-hand denim material. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.
For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.
Date: The course consists of 4 meetings: Wednesday 16.04., Wednesday 23.04., Wednesday 30.04., Wednesday 07.05. Hours 17.00-20.00.

BLUSE AND PANTIES 9 H
In this course you will create a set: a blouse with a v-neck, tied with ties, and trousers in a loose, straight cut, with an elastic waistband.
Materials: You will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.
For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.
Date: The course consists of 3 meetings: Tuesday 15.04., Tuesday 22.04., Tuesday 29.04. Hours 17.00-20.00

BAG + COSMETIC BAG 7 H
In this course you will create a practical set: a functional bag and a make-up bag. The cosmetic bag will be zipped, with a lining inside. The bag will take the form of a fashionable shopper with a flat bottom and a practical pocket on the outside.
Materials: you will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.
Who for: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.
Date: Saturday 26.04.2025, 10:00-17:00 (including a half-hour break - you are encouraged to bring your lunch).

LACE SHOPPER BAG 7 H
In this course you will create a unique and eco-friendly lace / curtain bag. The bag will take the form of a fashionable and lightweight shopper - perfect for shopping or as a stylish everyday accessory.
Materials: you will work with second-hand curtains, giving them new life. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.
For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.

JEANS UPCYCLING 7 H
In this course you will create something on your own from old jeans. We have prepared three suggestions for you to choose from: a handbag, a large bag - shopper or a bucket hat.
Materials: You will be working with second-hand denim fabric. In particular, we encourage you to bring your own unused jeans. However, if you can't find them in your wardrobe, don't worry, you will also find all the materials at the Kraina Foundation.
If you bring your old jeans - don't forget to wash them before the course.

DECORATIONS FOR CHILDREN'S ROOM 7 H
In this course you will create a practical decorative set for a child's or teenager's room. You will sew a colourful textile garland to liven up the interior and a decorative cushion cover with a unique pattern and texture that will become a real decoration for the bed or sofa.
Materials: you will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics, giving them a new life. All materials are provided by the Land Foundation.
For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their adventure in sewing and interior decoration.
